Proposte per un Pianeta Fresco. L'attività editoriale di Ettore Sottsass tra il 1945 — 1980 is a research that illustrates the publications made by Ettore Sottsass Jr. from the ‘40s to the ‘80s, with an eye also to the experiences of Memphis and the magazine “Terrazzo”, which took place afterwards.

Starting from the influence of painting and figurative arts, as reflected in the books designed for Einaudi and Orma, the book focuses on three revolutionary publishing experiences for the Italian and international underground panorama: the American fanzine “Room East Chronicle”, the books edited together with Fernanda Pivano for the publisher East 128 (particularly relevant for the link with the poets of the beat generation), and the magazine “Pianeta Fresco”.

Instead, in the last part of the publication the focus is on the relationships that Sottsass develops with industrial design and architecture, especially with the companies Poltronova and Olivetti, through illustrated books, theoretical texts and inserts which have been published on “IN. Argomenti e Immagini di Design” and “Casabella”.

L'attività editoriale di Ettore Sottsass tra il 1945 — 1980 è una ricerca che illustra le pubblicazioni prodotte da Ettore Sottsass Jr. a partire dagli anni ‘40 fino agli anni ‘80, con uno sguardo anche alle esperienze di Memphis e della rivista “Terrazzo”, avvenute successivamente.

Muovendosi a partire dall’influenza della pittura e delle arti figurative, come riflettono i libri progettati per Einaudi ed Orma, il volume pone l'accento su tre esperienze editoriali rivoluzionarie per il panorama underground italiano e internazionale: la fanzine “Room East Chronicle”, i libri editi insieme a Fernanda Pivano per la casa editrice East 128 (particolarmente rilevanti per il legame con i poeti della beat generation), e la rivista “Pianeta Fresco”.

Nell'ultima parte della pubblicazione sono invece messe in evidenza le relazioni che Sottsass sviluppa con l’industrial design e l'architettura, in particolar modo con le aziende Poltronova e Olivetti, attraverso i libri illustrati, testi teorici e gli inserti pubblicati su “IN. Argomenti e Immagini di Design” e “Casabella”.
